Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Torq mobile application, the torqapp.co website, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Torq (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

2. The Service is informational, not professional advice

Torq displays torque specifications and related fastener data for reference purposes only. The data is compiled from manufacturer service manuals, community contributions, and other published sources, but it may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. Torq is not a substitute for an OEM service manual, certified training, or the judgment of a qualified mechanic.

You must always verify any spec against the current OEM service manual for your specific vehicle before torquing any fastener. Improper torque can cause property damage, personal injury, or death. By using the Service you accept all risk arising from your use of the data shown.

3. Accounts

Some features require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Torq offers an optional paid subscription (“Torq Pro”) sold through the Apple App Store. Purchases are billed to your Apple ID at the end of any free trial and renew on the period you selected (e.g., annually) until you cancel.

  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
  • Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid being charged for the next term.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's refund policy; we cannot issue refunds directly.
  • Prices may change with notice; continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

5. User contributions

If you submit specs, corrections, flags, comments, or other content (“Contributions”), you represent that you have the right to do so and that your Contributions do not infringe any third-party right or violate any law. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to use, store, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute your Contributions in connection with the Service. We may remove Contributions at our discretion.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, mirror, or bulk-export the Service's data;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except as permitted by law;
  • Use the Service to violate any law or third-party right;
  • Probe, attack, or attempt to disrupt the Service's security or infrastructure;
  • Submit knowingly false specs, copyrighted material you do not have rights to, or malicious content;
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service without our written consent.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, code, organization, and original content are owned by Torq and protected by intellectual-property laws. Vehicle names, OEM service-manual citations, and other third-party marks remain the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification only.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers including Apple (distribution and payments), Supabase (database and authentication), and RevenueCat (subscription management). Your use of those parts of the Service is also subject to those providers' terms.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any spec is correct, current, or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL TORQ OR ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — INCLUDING ANY PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH RESULTING FROM RELIANCE ON DATA SHOWN IN THE SERVICE — REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $20. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; in that case, they apply to the maximum extent permitted.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Torq from and against any claim, liability, damage, loss, and expense (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your Contributions, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Sections 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. The U.N. Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
